Insert the SIM card
Insert your SIM card into Smart Guardian.

Install and configure
Mount the Smart Guardian on the wall, connect it to power, and set the temperature and humidity alert limits using SMS commands.

Receive alerts
Smart Guardian sends SMS alerts without requiring a web service subscription. You can use your own SIM card or get one from Triotech with an affordable mobile data plan. The optional web service provides access to readings and alert history, as well as email alerts. The web service is billed monthly or annually.
SMS delivery requires an active SIM card and mobile coverage on site.

Smart Guardian
Temperature, humidity and power monitoring
Smart Guardian measures temperature and humidity and monitors its mains power supply. The device uses your SIM card and is configured by SMS commands. Alerts are sent by SMS, without requiring on-site Wi-Fi.

Smart Scout
Temperature and humidity in additional spaces
Smart Scout measures temperature and humidity in another space, such as a garage, basement or storage room. It connects wirelessly to Smart Guardian.
Readings are sent to Smart Guardian, which sends SMS alerts when a reading crosses a configured alert threshold.

Smart Power Guard
Power monitoring at additional locations
Smart Power Guard plugs into the socket you want to monitor. It can be on a different electrical circuit from Smart Guardian or protected by a different residual-current device (RCD).
Smart Guardian monitors the wireless signal from Smart Power Guard and sends an alert if it disappears. This can be caused by a power outage or a wireless connection problem.

Combined SMS alerts
With a service subscription, Smart Guardian units send SMS alerts to the SMS server. When multiple units report the same incident, the server combines their alerts into a single SMS message to you.
Daily device check-in
Smart Guardian sends a daily SMS check-in to the SMS server to confirm that it is active. If the check-in does not arrive, you receive an SMS or email alert so you can check the device and its mobile connection. This monitoring is included in the service subscription.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a subscription?
Not for basic use. Smart Guardian uses your SIM card and sends SMS alerts directly to your phone. You can configure the device and request its status using SMS commands. You pay for your own mobile service. Triotech’s web service is an optional addition with a monthly or annual fee.
What if the device stops communicating?
With a service subscription, Smart Guardian sends a daily SMS check-in to the SMS server. If it does not arrive, you receive an SMS or email alert so you can check the device and its mobile connection.
Does it need Wi-Fi?
SMS uses the GSM/4G mobile network. It requires an active SIM card and coverage at the installation site, but not the building’s Wi-Fi.
What happens during a power cut?
The built-in battery takes over and the device sends an SMS alert. Delivery still requires mobile coverage at the property.
How is it installed?
First, insert the SIM card into Smart Guardian. Then mount the device on the wall, plug in the power supply and configure the alert thresholds using SMS commands.
Can I monitor more than one building?
Yes. Each property can have its own Smart Guardian. With a service subscription, readings and alerts from the devices are available in the same portal.
